The clergy of North American Old Catholic Church work in a wide variety of ministries sometimes as a part of their parish community and sometimes independent of it. We operate on a simple concept "Find the need - fill the need!"
Our clergy and seminarians are encouraged to become engaged in their local community and identify where they can be of assistance, bringing Christ's message of love and acceptance to all parts of everyday life.
Examples of the types of ministries, and the cities where we are present are below.

Ministries

In addition to our parishes in Maryland, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, California, Virginia, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Florida, we have clergy and seminarians engaged in social and sacramental ministries in Florida, Maryland, New Hampshire, Colorado, California, Connecticut, and Texas.

Examples of these ministries include Nursing home chaplains, public safety and emergency service chaplaincy, and spiritual direction. We have clergy that are experts in demonic possession and exorcisms, theology, and church history.

If you would like to access clergy in any of the states listed above, please contact our national office by clicking on the contact link in the top right corner of the page.

Social Concerns

The church has a long and rich history of standing up and participating in the social justice process, working to protect all classes of people that society often marginalizes. Please visit our Social Justice Issues and Action to learn more about these issues and our responses to them.

National Ministries

Saint Wolbodo Seminary is our national seminary program. Saint Wolbodo offers classes for those who are preparing for ordination to the diaconate and the priesthood. Additionally, Saint Wolbodo manages our clergy continuing educational program, and offers educational opportunities for laity in our parishes and ministries.

Our clergy participate in our National Wedding Ministry, which successfully performed 140 weddings in 2007! Our ministers will solemnize weddings that are spiritual or civil, and regardless of whether they are legally binding, or prohibited by civil prejudice.

The Independent Catholic News Service is a media outlet for the National Church's clergy and partners, offering events, audio and video media, and different podcast shows. Moreover, the news service is joined by the Old Catholic Publishing Group, which works to bring books and information to the Old Catholic Communities in North America through the re-issuance of historical texts, as well as by offering new books, manuscripts and thoughts from the brightest minds in the Old Catholic Church in the twenty-first century. In addition, the publishing group hosts our quarterly scholastic journal, The Gabriel.
